so yesterday, i went to get a pedi at a burbank nail salon that hasmik has been going to for years. i walked in, introduced myself (as "sam"), and made some small talk with the vietnamese ladies who were attending to me. she asks me a ton of questions and i tell her that i'm a 26-year-old mba student...no, not married...no, no boyfriend...etc. etc. then, i'm not quite sure how the conversation turned, but for about the last 30 minutes, she told me about the miracles of her religion, how we can all heal ourselves, and something about chanting to lady buddha. when i was leaving, she ended up giving me a little buddha statue and a note with that chant that i should be doing from now on. well, i am still confused as to how my pedi turned out to be an evangelist session. the funnier thing is hasmik (aka "jasmine") says she just reads her magazines when she goes for a pedi. maybe i just look confused in life.
speaking of confused, why do i still suck at getting dressed up for events? there's one thing i miss about living in a sorority...the plethora of dresses in the house. for any formal, you can pretty much do a quick tour of the closets, and voila, you're ready to go. anyhoo, thank goodness for hasmik and kat, who are playing retirees and have a lot of free time on their hands right now, because without them, i probably would have gone to my black tie optional casino night (which was last night) in flip flops and jeans.

Let's see a picture of what you wore instead of jeans!
